In response to recent circulating accusations, the Kano State Government issued a statement addressing the alleged release of Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a popular TikToker, from a correctional facility. Kunya is currently facing trial for charges related to sharing inappropriate video content, a violation of state laws.

The government categorically denies the baseless claims circulating on mainstream and social media platforms, dismissing them as unfounded, untrue, and the product of individuals attempting to tarnish the administration's image and that of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Emphasizing the separation of powers and the need for the judiciary to operate independently, the government asserts its commitment to upholding constitutional provisions and avoiding interference in legal processes. The statement underscores the understanding that the allegations against Murja Kunya fall under the jurisdiction of the judiciary, and the government pledges not to compromise the fair and just outcome of the case.

According to the government's account, Murja Kunya was arraigned before an Upper Shari’ah Court at Kwanar Hudu in Nassarawa Local Government area. The court ordered her remand in a correctional center, adjourning the case to Tuesday, 20th February 2023, after a bail application hearing. It was later revealed that new allegations surfaced, leading to her removal for investigation by security agencies. The government assures the public that the case is ongoing and will reach its conclusion through due legal process.

The public is urged to disregard the mischievous allegations against the state government, described as an attempt to tarnish its image. The government reaffirms its commitment to respecting and upholding the constitutional provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
